It’s almost that time of the year again, where millions of us across the country gather to yell, cheer, jeer, and devote our entire Saturdays to the sport we love. As we look ahead to the 2022 College Football seasons, I will go over big questions, conference predictions, and other things that will probably age horribly within a few months. With that being said, enjoy the ride.
Big Questions

- Can Georgia run it back or will Alabama regain supremacy in the SEC?
- After losing much of their vaunted defense to the NFL, plenty of questions remain for Kirby Smart and Georgia. Can Stenson Bennet take a step forward and lead this team back to the promised land, or will Nick Saban and his seemingly endless supply of 5-star recruits put Alabama back on top?
- Can another Group of Five Team Break into the Playoff?
- Cincinnati’s Cinderella run may have been thwarted by the aforementioned Crimson Tide, but the scrappy Bearcats proved that a small-conference team could play with the big dogs. That being said, they along with the rest of the Group of Five will have an uphill battle to make it back to the big dance. Teams like UCF, Houston, and BYU certainly would like to be in the picture, but nothing short of a perfect, absolutely dominant regular season and a few lucky upsets above them will let them sneak in as the 4 seed.
- Can anyone stop Ohio State in the Big Ten?
- After a “disappointing” 2 loss season, the Buckeyes will certainly look to regain their dominance over the rest of the conference. Unless Michigan can prove that last season wasn’t a fluke or another team in a crowded Big Ten East (Penn State/Michigan State) can make a surprise run, look for OSU to cruise into Indianapolis come the end of November.
- Can conference realignment get even crazier?
- Will Notre Dame bite the bullet and latch onto the Big Ten or ACC? Will Stanford/Cal/Oregon follow USC and UCLA to the Big Ten? Is the SEC content to sit on their laurels and watch the chaos or do they attempt to poach Clemson from the ACC? Can the Big 12 survive by poaching teams from the AAC? Does the Group of Five cease to exist altogether? This all may sound crazy but so was USC playing in the same conference as Rutgers a few months ago.
- Does anyone know how to deal with NIL?
- No, but that won’t stop USC and Jimbo Fisher from trying.
- Should the College Football Playoff expand to 12 or 16 teams?
- Yes. Will it anytime soon? No.
