College Football Week 2 Preview

Week 1 Recap

  • Thursday Night went hard
    • Pitt/WVU and Penn St / Purdue gave us some extremely entertaining and high-energy football; it’s a shame both of them happened at the same time.
  • The Pac-12 collapses under the lights
    • Utah made one too many mistakes in the Swamp and the Ducks never got off the ground. It may be too soon to say but the Pac-12’s playoff hopes took a big hit in Week 1.
  • Georgia is still really good
    • After a full offseason of dealing with speculation about losing defensive staters and Stenson Bennet being able to carry the offense, Georgia went out and flat-out dominated Oregon in a game that was never even close. Look out, the Dawgs are back in town and they came to play.

Most Interesting Matchups

#24 Tennessee @ #17 Pitt, ABC – Can Pitt recover from an emotional Backyard Brawl or will the Volunteers roll out of Pittsburgh with a win?

#20 Kentucky @ #12 Florida, ESPN – What was once a hilariously one sided curb-stomp is now a Top 20 matchup. We’ll see if Will Levis is for real or if Florida can justify their suddenly lofty ranking.

#9 Baylor @ #21 BYU, ESPN – BYU looks to stake its claim as a top Group of Five team against a Top 10 team. Baylor in turn is looking to keep up with OKST and Oklahoma on top of the Big 12.

FCS Game of the Week

UNI vs North Dakota, 4PM 9/10, ESPN+ – Two teams that play second fiddle to a more successful team in their state – what’s not to love?
