Week 12 Recap

Two more weeks – that’s all we have left of this regular season. Last week we learned that Georgia still has a bit more left in the tank, BYU couldn’t keep playing with fire, and the SEC in general *really* doesn’t like seeing Indiana ranked above Alabama. On the docket for week 13 include an unexpected Top 5 matchup in Columbus, a clash of playoff hopefuls in South Bend, and one of the best color matchups in the sport. Conference and national pecking orders are far from finalized and we as fans should reap the benefits of the ensuing chaos.

Most Interesting Matchups

Indiana vs Ohio State: All the Hoosiers have heard for the past 2 months is “you haven’t played anyone good so it doesn’t count” from the rest of the Big Ten, the SEC, and national sports media as a whole. A win in the Horseshoe against the mighty millionaire Buckeyes would shut down that criticism immediately.

Colorado vs Kansas: Can the Jayhawks replicate the magic from last week against BYU and take down the Buffaloes in Arrowhead Stadium this weekend? Coach Prime’s squad still control their own destiny for a Big 12 title game berth and will be looking to help that winning streak going.

Army vs Notre Dame: That loss to NIU seems like a lifetime ago as the Irish are still the thick of the playoff race. Army continues to roll, and having already clinched a spot in the AAC championship game, are just a Boise State slip-up away from a shock playoff berth of their own.

USC vs UCLA: The first year in the Big Ten has not gone quite as planned for the Bruins and Trojans, but you can be sure that there is still the same intensity in the cross-city Los Angeles rivalry. I’ve also chosen to highlight this game for its color choices – this is one of the few games where both teams are allowed to wear their primary uniforms and the contrasting blue and red is always a joy to watch.

FCS Game of the Week

William and Mary @ Richmond, 11/23 12:00PM, FloSports

Going for some local flavor here. These two schools are separated by 50 miles and have contested the “Capital Cup” rivalry since 1898, with Richmond leading the overall series 65-64-5. The oldest college football game south of the Mason-Dixon line should make for a fun way to start the afternoon.
