College Football 2025 Week 7 Preview: Inertia Up and Down

Are you not entertained? The top 2 preseason teams are now unranked, Georgia Tech has an inside track to the ACC championship game, and no one knows if any draft eligible quarterbacks are actually any good. We’ve got 2 ranked-on-ranked matchups in the Big Ten this week, as well as several chances for the Big 12 to establish some sort of pecking order. We’re already halfway through the regular season (which is better for some fanbases than others), so we should hopefully have some more clarity headed into spooky season.

Most Interesting Matchups

Indiana @ Oregon: Time to see if the Hoosiers are for real in a mega showdown versus the reloaded and dangerous Ducks. Oregon has a legitimate argument as the best team in the nation, and another Top-10 win could vault them to the top of the polls once again.

Oklahoma @ Texas: The Red River Rivalry (and/or Shootout depending on who you talk to) is back and has lost a fair amount of luster despite the usual bad blood. The Longhorns have fallen from preseason No. 1 to out of the rankings entirely, while the Sooners have cruised up to take their place in the Top 10.

Alabama @ Missouri: Alabama has been on a roll since the FSU loss and avenged the loss to Vanderbilt last week. Missouri is quietly undefeated going into this matchup and should prove to be a good challenge for the Crimson Tide.

BYU @ Arizona: Both Utah Big 12 teams take on conference opponents from Arizona this week, but I’ve given this one the edge as the Cougars are still undefeated and thus still control their own destiny in a crowded conference race.

Ohio State @ Illinois: The last time these two teams went into a game in these positions the Illini came away with a massive upset. The Buckeyes will hope to avoid the same outcome as 2007, and have looked nearly unstoppable since early struggles against Texas.

FCS Game of the Week

Alabama State @ Jackson State , 3:30PM, ESPNU

The Hornets and Tigers collide for sole ownership of first place in the SWAC East Division this Saturday afternoon in Mississippi.
