Now, over two months into the season, we know a few things for sure. Vanderbilt and Indiana are better CFB candidates than Texas, LSU, and Penn State, being a fired college coach is the easiest way to get rich these days, and conferences are way too big for their own good (looking at you, Big Ten). The top ten teams mostly get tune-up games this week, but those in the middle of the rankings will look to prove that they still have a path to the playoff.

Most Interesting Matchups
Oklahoma @ Tennessee: With the logjam above them in the SEC rendering contention out of the question, the Sooners and Volunteers look to claim the title of “best of the mid-pack bowl bids,” as well as some bragging rights.
Vanderbilt @ Texas: Top Ten Vandy lives on! Texas may be missing Arch Manning this weekend, and the Commodores looked a bit suspect for long stretches against Missouri. The Longhorns are a slight favorite at home, but this one could come down to the wire.
Cincinnati @ Utah: The Bearcats are 5-0 in Big 12 play and are a 3-point loss to Nebraska from being undefeated. Utah may have taken a few losses already but don’t estimate the atmosphere under the lights in Rice-Eccles Stadium.
Navy @ North Texas: In a throwback to the 40s, the Midshipmen are undefeated and looking to keep it rolling against a Mean Green team who’s still in the running for the American. A win either way could go a long way towards a playoff berth.
Virginia @ Cal: In a twist no one saw coming, the Cavaliers have a share of the ACC lead going into the last third of the season. A trip west to Berkeley won’t be easy, but Virginia has control of their own destiny for a trip to Charlotte in December.
FCS Game of the Week
Drake @ Butler, 11/1, 1PM, FloSports
Indianapolis hosts the battle of the Bulldogs, where only one can reign supreme. Yes, I picked this matchup solely because these teams had the same mascot.
