Another week down, another round of hot takes ready, and a whole new set of bad picks to make! Let’s see what college football has in store for us this week.
Week Two Recap
The Texas Longhorns rode a fourth quarter for the ages to the Number 1 spot in the polls, and will likely stay there for the foreseeable future. The Big Ten looks like a bit of a mess so far, Michigan and Oklahoma appear to have very similar problems at quarterback, Greg Schiano somehow still has a job, and the Oklahoma State Cowboys had the best weekend of any OSU team with a huge upset over Oregon.

Most Interesting Matchups
Houston @ Texas Tech: Our first ranked-on-ranked matchup of the weekend has major implications for the early Big 12 race. Both teams are off to a hot start, but much of the country will likely be pulling for the Cougars as they go against a Red Raiders team what entered the season as Public Enemy No. 2 (more on No. 1 in a bit…) and the most unlikeable team in the Big 12.
SMU @ Louisville: The winner of the matchup will slot in as the current ACC runner up behind Miami and will be in prime position should the Hurricanes slip up. The Mustangs had their hands full with Florida State, and the Cardinals will look to capitalize on that this Saturday.
Florida @ Auburn: The battle of the below-average SEC teams features the Gators taking an early-season trip to Jordan-Hare to take on the Tigers. There’s a fairly high chance this one won’t matter come late November, but sometimes pride is a good enough prize to fight for.
Arizona State @ Kansas (London): To be fair, if this were a normal Big 12 game, I’d probably skip it this week. However, the Sun Devils and Jayhawks will instead square off across the pond in Wembley Stadium. Kansas for its part will probably play it safe for any social media hype videos this week.
LSU @ Ole Miss: Speaking of Public Enemy No. 1, the college football persona non grata in Lane Kiffin makes his return to Oxford having escaped the wrath of the SEC (for now). No matter what happens on the field, this may be the most hostile crowd in the history of the SEC and I for one wouldn’t miss it for anything.
FCS Game of the Week
Hampton @ Norfolk State, 9/19 4PM, MEAC Network
Going for the local pick again this week. The Pirates and Spartans clash in a Hampton Roads rivalry, with the winner claiming bragging rights in the 61st Battle of the Bay.
